Experience the eccentric physicality of having a huge mushroom on your back
THE GROWING is a 2.5 D Puzzle Platformer. Taking control over a boy, the player wanders
through lifeless surroundings, and quickly finds out that the boy has been infected by a
parasite fungus. Strangely enough, the boy and the fungus are in some kind of symbiosis,
as the boy can grow the fungus infintely on him, which leaves the child with different
abilities regarding strenght and other physicality. „Together“ they try to leave this zone of
quarantine, which obviously has been installed around the boy, fighting off the traps the
humans have left around the one they consider lost.
The player can grow and shrink the fungus on his character at any time in the game. While the boy
normally is weak, light and able to jump, the fungus turns him heavy, strong and destructive,
while being unable to jump any significant heights. This growing ability is exploited in almost any
part of the game.
