Mecha Building in Blender

 

 

 

 

I modeled this mech after a sketch of mine. Goal of this work was to solidify my knowledge of modeling in blender and to find ways to speed up the process. I went for a very practical and mechanically believable artstyle, while on the other hand trying to think of the bigger picture and incorporate clear shape language. Everything in the model is supposed to undermine the heaviness of the tank, making it look heavy and slow. Only some contradicting parts are allowed, for example the thin connection pieces from the “knees“ to the “sheens”. I find those parts to be interesting for turning into something interactive, because the imply a weakness in the tank design, which could be exploited in a game environment. Currently I am implementing this tank into a realtime environment. More will be announced soon.
